The geometry, an essential element in our reality

Do not worry, you can do it whenever you want. Music and Art have a really strong relation with the Geometry, the topic that concern us in this blog and it will be interesting for you, I am sure.

Today, and as something new... I am going to tell you some information about the ROLE OF THE TEACHER in the development of Geometry and also, about Geometry in the reality.

According to Freudenthal (1983), ¿Cómo crear contextos adecuados para poder enseñar matematizando?… necesitamos problemas matemáticos que tengan un contexto significativo para los
estudiantes”

In this quote we can see how important the development of a significative learning is. In order to do that and as a way to be good teachers in geometry, we can relate it to the real surroundings.

In this entry I provide you with tools that will make easier to explain students geometry. To do that, I am going to show some some charts where you have the relations between geometrical forms and concepts to the elements of the reality.

I invite you to tell your students to walk through the city, as an amazing activity to do. As we have been seing in the different entries, geometry is a theme that can be worked properly in a transdisciplinary way with all our students. In this new entry, and as a new suggestion on how to work, I invite you to think off Geometry and the relation with the ROAD SAFETY. We can work in an inductive way, cause this theme allow us to transmit the information to the students working with the  VISUAL THINKING , an strategy I totally recommend you to use with your students, who will be totally able to interiorize it. Fashion victims of geometry

Today we are going to talk in this new entry about the different designs in fashion which are compound by geometrical shapes. In ancient civilizations maths, religion and arts weren't divided. Nowadays, the geometry is supposed to be a reference for the new designers. As we should know, students are very influenced by fashion and the new trends. We are able to use those elements to make them see the geometry as something useful and dinamic, guaranteeing  Fashion is fascinated on using geometry, because those patterns allow to create incredible dresses, T-shirts and pieces of arts. It is not necessary to create complex geometrical designs. If you look at this photo, we can do beautiful things we some simple elements. The geometrical patterns used in the fashion designs, squares blacks and white, circles, hexagonal shapes, or line segments are really important in the collections of the new designers.  So.. In the last entry we talked about geometry & music. Did you find it interesting? I hope so! The following entry will show another vision of the geometry. As I told you on the introduction, I pretend to provide you with different resources and tools to work the geometry with the students in a motivating way and making it real to them, so they will be totally engaged. Can you imagine with is the area we are going to work on today?... Geometry seen from the Artistic Expression.  From the past to our current times, mathematics and arts have been really related. The simmetry, proportions and the geometry are concepts specially important in arts. If we observe a sculpture, a draw or the architecture we can see that the artists have a mathematic view.    🔺  Do not forget that most of the important mathematicians were artists, and viceversa.  I am offering you a new possibility.
