BYOD methodology

How are you doing? This new post is going to open you a window with lots of interesting elements to use in the classroom.

Have you ever heard about BYOD methodology?

Bring your own device (BYOD) - which is also called bring your own technology (BYOT) or bring your own computer (BYOPC) - referes to the opportunnity of permmiting students to bring their personal devices (laptos, tablets and smart phones) to the classroom, in order to work with them.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN? Working like this, we will include the ICT tools and we will be able to work on mathematics and, specifically geometry, in an interactive way.

As we want our students to learn as much as practice, and we want to involve them in the process, we have to make sure that they enjoy and they experience what they are learning. In order to do that, I am going to give you a list of resources to work on geometry.

DO YOU REMEMBER THE ENTRY - GAMIFICATION?
Maybe some of you have not read it yet, do not worry, I let you here the link: https://geometryprimaryeducation.blogspot.com.es/2018/04/gamification-in-development-of-geometry.html

In this new topic, I will show you the best apps and ITC resources that can be used in class to interact with the geometry and make studnets understand it thorugh visual thinking.

SCHOOLS/TEACHERS who do NOT have the opportunity of using a big amount of devices in class, or also teachers whose students are not able to bring personal devices due to different situations --> Most of the programs can be used from just one device and, at the same time, all students can see it and interact, so it make it easier.

1- Shape Arts: Geometry Creations:

It is an app that uses shapes to create puzzles. This funny game is parents and teachers approved for healping kids learn more about shapes and how they fit together.

2- GeoCon HD

It is an app really useful to learn about basic geometry constructions. The app is great for students to learn about the basic constructions such as line segmentes, triangles and circles. There is a game mode or a lesser graded practice so you can do it addapted to the necessities. You can move the scale, and rotate the canvas as you play to get different perspectives of the game.

3- Doodle Math: Shapes

It is an app to learn geometry while enjoying the creative arts. This fun app allows users to draw shapes themselves and then use those shapes to make fun pictures of animales. It uses 8 basic shapes.

4- My Geometric Universe

It is some of the coolest geometry apps. It doesn't just teach, but it also is a further step to put geometry into work. Kids will use a pencil, ruler and compass to create geometric shapes. Then, they will take it a step further and use those shapes to build objects like a truck. There are three universes when you can store your creations.

5- Shapes: 3D Geometry Learning

This last resource is an opportunity to take your learning outside of the app. Instead of pklaying a game, this app allows you to print off shape diagrams. Then, you can follow the step by step fully illustrated instructions to turn your piece of paper into a tangible 3D shape.

Have you thought on the amount of opportunities that these apps offer to all of our students? Try to use them!
